We have a successful track record of growth that has led to an opportunity for an experienced Controller to join our team. We service major OEM providers with leading edge production of agricultural and industrial equipment, over the road truck components, and automotive parts. This position will report to our Vice President and in this role, you will help support all the business units within the organization. The expectation is that the Controller will interpret financial and cost data to make recommendations that will impact the operational performance of the company and be a key contributor towards helping set the direction.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Direct the Accounting Team by establishing yearly goals and objectives that will facilitate execution and improvement of all accounting related functions
  • Monitor internal controls to assure they are effective in identifying risks and mitigating them
  • Responsible for analyzing and interpreting financial and operational data and making recommendations to reduce cost and improve overall company profitability
  • Drive cost accounting accuracy and reporting to accurately reflect operational performance
  • Assist staff in setting priorities and planning for timely completion of routine tasks and special projects
  • Provide training and development opportunities to new and existing staff as needed
  • Implement predictive metrics and related reporting to measure operational and financial performance to guide improvement efforts by identifying the areas that can be most effectively impacted
  • Manage and develop the Accounting Team to ensure timely financial reporting, cost accounting feedback, and metrics reporting
  • Responsible for the integrity of the financial statements including verification and explanation of any unexpected variances
  • Coordinate compilation of financial and tax data, and required schedules for year-end accounting reviews
  • Manage personnel issues with accounting staff including performance feedback, hiring, and conflicts within the department or with other departments
  • Assist with financing opportunities and capital investment justification
  • Document policies and procedures to be followed in financial related reporting and tracking
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting

Skill and Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with an Accounting focus
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred
  • Ten plus years Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Five plus years supervisory experience guiding an Accounting staff as a Controller or Accounting Manager with the ability to manage completion of multiple priorities
  • Self-motivated and credible individual with the potential to become a trusted leader in the company
  • Extensive experience extracting and analyzing data from a comprehensive ERP system
  • Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong background in finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proven ability to interpret financial data to measure and improve operational performance
  • Commitment to handle confidential business and financial information with integrity
  • Excellent computer software skills including Microsoft Office
  • Strong skills in communicating effectively with employees at all levels of the organization using verbal and written interactions to collect data and present information
